Victims of Hurricane Katrina helped by those listed on this page.
Delta
is a beautiful 100 pound, 2 year old spayed female Anatolian
Shepherd/Great Pyrenees cross. Initially, Delta's troubles
started when, according to her owner she did not work
out as a livestock guardian dog, and decided to shoot
her and "feed her to the buzzards". Luckily,
with a lot of help from The National Anatolian Rescus
Network Delta was rescued and placed into a foster home.
Unfortunately, Hurricane Katrina delt a double blow to
Delta when it destroyed the home she was fostered in.
UPDATE 9.3.05 - Thanks to all those who kindly offered help and those of you who considered adopting Delta. We are happy to report that Delta is being considered for adoption by a family in Arkansas. We fully expect a successful conclusion to Delta's home trial, but It is possible that Delta may not get along with the other four legged companions at her new home. Please stay tuned to DogsOnly. There are many more companion dogs in urgent need of help due to Hurricane Katrina. If you subscribe to the DogsOnly RSS feed you should watch for Urgent Alerts in your feed.
Rescue
had lost contact with Cami's foster family until September
7 because her family had to evacuate the area to escape
Hurricane Katrina. Upon return, Cami's foster family discovered
they had lost everything and had nowhere to keep Cami.
Cami, a female Anatolian Shepherd companion, is approximately two years. She was found as a stray after someone chopped her tail off. Cami is a very good natured girl, she loves people and will make an excellent family companion and guardian. True to the Anatolian Shepherd nature she will bark to alert you that someone is entering your property. She is good with other dogs, including small dogs and is also good with children. She seems to be housebroken, will walk on lead and knows basic commands. Cami is currently in Ponchatoula, LA.
UPDATE 09.14.05: Cami is now located safely in a secure foster home
Katrina victims also helped by the generosity of those listed above although not pictured here are...
