First of all let me ask this question....where can I go to find laws on pet ownership? My ex-husband took our dog to live with him. He currently resides in a trailer park and the dog has a fenced run and inside the run is a pole with a 50ft cable. He is in this run at all times when he's outside except when my ex is outside with him. Yesterday a neighborhood child got too close to the run (most likely poking at him, throwing sticks at him, etc....don't say that precious little Johnny would never do such a thing), the dog - Zeus - snapped at the kid--didn't bite him or anything like that, just snapped at him and barked, but it scared the kid (GOOD!),he told momma, momma told the landlord and now the landlord told my ex that he had to get rid of the dog or move out by 9/2. That seems a bit harsh to me -- especially since the dog was IN his pen and not running loose --- the KID is the one who needs to be reprimanded! The landlord just gets to make that decision???

He called and asked me if I could take him and I can't...not where I live now, besides he took the dog that was OURS and made him THEIRS (if you see what I'm sayin') and he's not my responsibility any longer. I don't want anything to happen to him and I know how much my ex loves that dog and I know the care he gets with him. I understand that he would rather the dog be with me than someone we don't know, but that's not an option.

Is there anywhere that would help find a good home for Zeus? Where can we turn?

Thanks for your help!

Please contact Doberman rescue. The way to locate a breed specific rescue is to go to google.com or your search engine, type in Doberman rescue along with your state and contact all rescues it pulls up. You may have to contact rescues outside your state of residence. Contact any and all of them since he might be a little hard to place (older adult, history of growl or snap - not that is was not provoked) Good luck. You really need to start on this ASAP as it takes a while to find a legitimate rescue and then get them to accept the dog, transport him to them and all.
