question My dog is on heat (ChezButs)

Hi My 9 month old whippet cross called Dahra is on her first heat, she is a very quiet dog anyway, but is even more quiet than usual. Is this normal for a dog on heat, would you expect them to spend lots of time in their basket. She is also not eating very much either. However, she is still enjoying her walks and fun time outside. Being new to dog ownership, should I be worried or is this 'normal'? Thanks ChezButs x ;-)

She could have an infection called Pyometra which is an infection in her uterus (you can do a search online and read about it). It can be fatal and symptoms include fever and no appeWARNING This is a spammers message. You should NOT click or respond. It will be removed shortly.e. You probably need to get her to a vet immediately. If she does have it, one of the only ways to treat it is to spay her. If you let it progress, it frequently leads to death. It might be a good idea to have her spayed anyway. There are too many unwanted dogs, not enough homes for them and the hassles of attracting every male in a 2 mile radius to your home. Good luck.
