This past Thursday my husband and I found a small swelled spot under our dog mouth. She is an avid bee catcher so we thought she had been stung by a bee. So as the vet has recommended I gave her come benadryl and let her be. Upon arriving home last night (sat.) I noticed that the swelling has gotten worse and that the place is now very hard. She still has the same energy and is eatting and drinking well. Does anyone know what this might be and how to treat it?

Thanks,
Worried about my doggie

It might be worse from her scratching it. She needs to get Benadryl for several days. It will also get hard from her scratching it repeatedly with her paw. A way for the skin to protect itself. She needs some Hydrocortisone cream applied to it bc it is probably trying to heal and you know how things get itchy when they are healing. Her scratching it will keep it from healing and make her prone to a staph infection. If it were my dog, I would give her Benadryl for several more days and apply some anti-itch cream on it. Good luck!
