|Since it is not known if the bite was provoked, I would suggest having an animal behaviorist or trainer assess the dog. Also, if he is not neutered, I would suggest he be neutered to reduce his testosterone level. Once they are mature, it can take 6-8 months for the levels to drop but they will. Also, it might be that your dog does not see the child as alpha over him. You should have your child feed the dog making him sit before receiving any treats or meals, not allowing him on the furniture. Schnauzers are part of the terrier family and they can be prone to snipping and / or biting but I would assess what happened to make sure the child did not provoke the dog to bite him. Good luck.
