Help! Terrier Mix with severe KCS (dry eye) - what to do? (Guest)

My 9yo terrier-mutt mix has severe KCS (diagnosed in mid-November). We've tried cyclosporing for a month and then vet suggested we try Tacrolimus. It's been 3 weeks on that and now now improvement (in fact, worse). We give her eye drops about once an hour all day (her Shimer tests in Nov. were 5mm and 4mm).

Has anyone lived with a dog with such severe KCS long term or is this something we have to consider euthanizing her for? She's heathly otherwise, but I can tell she's depressed...as am I.

Our dog has SEVERE dry eye. We think it might have something to do with a neurological problem (He has severe dry nose on the same side and he will have goo come out of that side of his mouth when he gets too hot.). He is healthy and happy. We too tried all of the drugs. He would run from us and hide everytime we went to the cabinet containing the drops or cream. We finally stopped. He lives with it and it doesn't seem to bother him much(not as much as the medicine). We just gently clean the goo out of his eye and love on him. One option is to remove the eye. We are still considering doing that.
