Finn is about 2 years old and is a male Australian Shepherd / Border Collie mix. He is medium sized at 60 pounds but he is very tall and lanky so he looks larger then he is, and because of his height he would be considered large. He is about as tall as a small Dane mix. Finn is completely vetted and up to date on his healthcare. Finn is past the difficult puppy stage and is already house trained which is a big bonus. He is energetic which is natural for his breed but is not hyper. He would do best in a home with a fenced yard to keep him safely at home. He loves to cuddle on the couch and give kisses. He is very affectionate. He is GREAT with cats and medium to larger sized dogs and loves having doggie friends. Finn is very tall and is a bit rambunctious for young children and small dogs so would do best in a home without real small ones. He walks well on a leash and loves going for walks. He does get excited around an open door so would need to be watched on this area. He is food motivated and very smart. He loves to explore and spend time outside. He loves to put his head out of the car window and rides well in a car. Finn was taken in as a stray and needs to find a forever family of his own. He will not be at our adoption showings so if you are interested in Finn, please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for more information or availability for meet and greets. His adoption fee is $125 and helps to reimburse for all his vet care.
Note that visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of the dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not by breed label.
Please don’t be tempted to adopt Finn on an impulse. You should take the time to carefully consider the long term commitment, expense, and passion it takes to give him the home he deserves and needs. Finn will reward you with unbounded love and devotion, but you must be committed and serious about your decision to bring him into your life. Remember, this is an adoption, not a sale, and we’re very serious about making sure that both you and Finn are a good match for each other.
An adoption fee applies to Finn’s adoption, and helps to reimburse our expenses for all of the necessary vet care that has been provided to include: spay or neuter (mandatory - no exceptions, rabies, micro-chipping and registration, all vaccinations (including all puppy shots, rabies, adult boosters and Bordatella, grooming, Frontline for flea/tick preventative, heartworm check if age appropriate and monthly preventative for all ages while in foster care. The adoption fee does not reimburse for all expenses and covers only a portion of most expenses involved in rehabilitating our rescues and returning them to health. Please keep this in mind when you are adopting a dog.
Please note that Finn WILL NOT be available to be met in person at our weekly adoption showing at the West Little Rock Petco on Chenal Parkway, across from Target and Home Depot. This is in the same strip mall as Old Navy and Shoe Carnival. Our showing hours are from 1-4 every Saturday except major holiday weekends. Due to time restraints, we are not able to accept phone calls but we always try and answer all emails within 24 hours. All of our young and adult dogs are available for a 2 week home visit before finalizing the adoption process (local adoptions only). This is to help ensure it is a good match for all involved without making a final commitment. Puppies under the age of 6 months are not available to go on home visits. All of our rescues are in private homes and not available to be visited outside of showing times. All of our foster homes work with our rescues to ensure they are crate trained and most are also housetrained. None of our foster homes have cats, so we can only make our best guess as to how our rescues would do with cats. We rescue from high kill shelters and once accepted into our program, none of our rescues are euthanized. We provide for all their vet care, socialization and training until an appropriate home can be found. We rely solely on donations and are a 501(c)3 Humane Society.
