Lancelot

Lancelot is about a 6 month old shepherd mix who lost his right front leg after he was hit by a car in Ohio. Lost and afraid, Lancelot somehow managed to stray into the path of the car which drove off and left the little pup struggling in the middle of the road. Fortunately, someone happened on the poor little guy and took him to a vet. The cost of saving Lancelot and the aftercare that would be required left some questioning if he should be saved. Fortunately, word got to DogsOnly of his plight, and it was agreed that if DogsOnly would take him in and care for him he could be saved. Lancelot had surgery to remove the shattered leg, and after a few days recovery, he rode the puppy bus to North Little Rock in Arkansas.

Lancelot

Lancelot arrived late on a cool rainy evening after a 24 hour trip. At first he was a little shy, but literally within minutes he was licking and waggin his tail, happy to be free from the crate in the bus. A fresh chewy treat probably helped him cheer up. Lancelot makes friends very easily, and he’s already running about and playing as if it doesn’t matter that one of his legs is missing. He has the sweetest nature, is gentle, playful, and is a very happy chappy indeed!

Lancelot

All the dogs that come to DogsOnly are guaranteed to never face the grim fate of euthanasia, so Lancelot is now safe and enjoying lots of love and attention in his foster home until he and his new family are united.

Please don’t be tempted to adopt Lancelot on an impulse. You should take the time to carefully consider the long term commitment, expense, and passion it takes to give him the home he deserves. He’ll reward you with unbounded love and devotion, but you must be committed and serious about your decision to bring him into your life. Remember, this is an adoption, not a sale, and we’re very serious about making sure that both you and Curly are a good match for each other. He’s going to need a special family to help him to recover and deal with his special need.

Lancelot will probably grow up to be first-class canine companions. However he is not for a family seeking an "easy" puppy, because there is no such thing. Please remember that as beautiful and cuddly as Lancelot is right now, he will grow into an adult canine companion in no time at all. You should also be prepared for the usual trial of rearing a young puppy including the chewing, crying, potty training, and constant demands. For this reason we would prefer that Lancelot's new family is experienced and understands his needs. Remember, just like kids, puppies grow up real fast, and need lots of patience, love and attention along the way.

DogsOnly adoption fee ranges from $100 - $150 depending on the dog and helps to reimburse our expenses for all of the necessary vet care that we have provided to include: spay or neuter (mandatory - no exceptions, rabies, micro-chipping and registration, all vaccinations (including all puppy shots, rabies, adult boosters and Bordatella, grooming, Frontline for flea/tick preventative, heartworm check if age appropriate and monthly preventative for all ages while in foster care, collar and 50% of basic training classes. The adoption fee does not reimburse for all our expenses and covers only a portion of most expenses involved in rehabilitating our rescues and returning them to health. Please keep this in mind when you are adopting a dog.

Lancelot can be met in person at our weekly adoption showing at the West Little Rock Petco on Chenal Parkway across from Target and Home Depot. This is in the same strip mall as Old Navy and Shoe Carnival. Our showing hours are from 1-4 every Saturday except major holiday weekends.

The email contact to learn more about Lancelot is contact@dogsonly.org you can complete an online adoption application by clicking the orange colored links at the top or bottom of this page.

IMPORTANT - Please call Petco at 501 219 9907 on Saturday between 1:00 and 4:00 PM only or email contact@dogsonly.org BEFORE coming to visit Lancelot to make sure that he is still available for adoption.

Due to time restraints, we are not able to accept phone calls but we always try and answer all emails within 24 hours. All of our young and adult dogs are available for a 2 week home visit before finalizing the adoption process (local adoptions only). This is to help ensure it is a good match for all involved without making a final commitment. Puppies under the age of 6 months are not available to go on home visits. All of our rescues are in private homes and not available to be visited outside of showing times. All of our foster homes work with our rescues to ensure they are crate trained and most are also housetrained. None of our foster homes have cats, so we can only make our best guess as to how our rescues would do with cats. We rescue from high kill shelters and once accepted into our program, none of our rescues are euthanized. We provide for all their vet care, socialization and training until an appropriate home can be found. We rely solely on donations and are a 501(c)3 Humane Society.

Thank you for your interest in rescue and in saving the life of a dog. Every day in the United States, 11,000 dogs die.
