Moe is one of a litter of 3 boy Chihuahua mix pups. Moe along with his mom and brothers were abandoned on an old gravel road down by a river. They were too young to be left out in the cold and snow. It’s hard to understand how someone could do that to a little of little pups and their mother.
One of the brothers was even run over and it seemed like people couldn’t care less about the helpless pups. Finally a kind lady drove up and found the hapless little family of pups and mom, and took them in. The pups were so infested with fleas that they lost some of the hair on their heads but after a bath and good cleaning, worming and shots they’re feeling so much better they're running and playing in their foster home.
Moe and the pups are about 7 to 8 weeks old and weigh 2.8 pounds. Moe’s mother is a larger Chihuahua mix and weighs about 12 pounds. She's a leggy girl, tall but thin. We have no idea who the father is but Moe and his brothers have very pretty markings. Moe has been through enough already and needs to find a good, warm home and a family who will love him and take good care of him no matter what.
Moe and his brothers are very happy and social and love to play fight with each other. They are using puppy pads but they sometimes miss. Moe needs a family who can train him through the typical puppyhood dilemmas like chewing and housetraining. He’s a good boy and needs a loving home. Moe has a slight case of Demodex and flea dermatitis but it is not contagious and should clear up soon now that he’s being taken care of. Moe has had flea tick treatment so he’s not suffering from all those miserable fleas anymore.
All the dogs that come to DogsOnly are guaranteed to never face the grim fate of euthanasia, so Moe is now safe and enjoying lots of love and attention in his foster home until he and his new family are united.
Please don’t be tempted to adopt Moe on an impulse. You should take the time to carefully consider the long term commitment, expense, and passion it takes to give him the home he deserves. He’ll reward you with unbounded love and devotion, but you must be committed and serious about your decision to bring him into your life. Remember, this is an adoption, not a sale, and we’re very serious about making sure that both you and Moe are a good match for each other.
IMPORTANT - Please call Petco at 501 219 9907 on Saturday between 1:00 and 4:00 PM only or email firstname.lastname@example.org BEFORE coming to visit Moe to make sure that he is still available for adoption.
Moe will probably grow up to be first-class canine companions. However he is not for a family seeking an "easy" puppy, because there is no such thing. Please remember that as beautiful and cuddly as Moe is right now, he will grow into an adult canine companion in no time at all. You should also be prepared for the usual trial of rearing a young puppy including the chewing, crying, potty training, and constant demands. For this reason we would prefer that Moe's new family is experienced and understands his needs. Remember, just like kids, puppies grow up real fast, and need lots of patience, love and attention along the way.
DogsOnly adoption fee ranges from $100 - $150 depending on the dog and helps to reimburse our expenses for all of the necessary vet care that we have provided to include: spay or neuter (mandatory - no exceptions, rabies, micro-chipping and registration, all vaccinations (including all puppy shots, rabies, adult boosters and Bordatella, grooming, Frontline for flea/tick preventative, heartworm check if age appropriate and monthly preventative for all ages while in foster care, collar and 50% of basic training classes. The adoption fee does not reimburse for all our expenses and covers only a portion of most expenses involved in rehabilitating our rescues and returning them to health. Please keep this in mind when you are adopting a dog.
Moe can be met in person at our weekly adoption showing at the West Little Rock Petco on Chenal Parkway across from Target and Home Depot. This is in the same strip mall as Old Navy and Shoe Carnival. Our showing hours are from 1-4 every Saturday except major holiday weekends.
The email contact to learn more about Moe is email@example.com you can complete an online adoption application by clicking the orange colored links at the top or bottom of this page.
Due to time restraints, we are not able to accept phone calls but we always try and answer all emails within 24 hours. All of our young and adult dogs are available for a 2 week home visit before finalizing the adoption process (local adoptions only). This is to help ensure it is a good match for all involved without making a final commitment. Puppies under the age of 6 months are not available to go on home visits. All of our rescues are in private homes and not available to be visited outside of showing times. All of our foster homes work with our rescues to ensure they are crate trained and most are also housetrained. None of our foster homes have cats, so we can only make our best guess as to how our rescues would do with cats. We rescue from high kill shelters and once accepted into our program, none of our rescues are euthanized. We provide for all their vet care, socialization and training until an appropriate home can be found. We rely solely on donations and are a 501(c)3 Humane Society.
