Carry

Carry is a 15 week old month old female Border Collie Australian Shepherd mix who has already made her career choice. When Carry grows up, she wants to be a guard dog!

Carry survived for two long frightening months in the kill shelter, but fortunately when her time came, the shelter took pity and called DogsOnly to come down and save this feisty little black and white fur ball. Carry is now living in a foster home, receiving regular belly rubs, watching TV, getting the occasional snack, good food, and has also discovered a passion for wading and relaxing in an old baby bath filled with cool water. Beware though, if intruders appear in her yard, she’s out of her tub like a rocket and shaking water all over them as she runs in big circles around them with the happiest laugh on her face you’ve ever seen. So far, no one has been deterred, most of the intruders just stand about giggling.

Carry will probably grow up to be first-class canine companion. However Carry is not for a family seeking an "easy" puppy, because there is no such thing. Please remember that as beautiful and cuddly as Carry is at the moment, she will grow into an adult canine companion in no time at all. You should also be prepared for the usual trial of rearing a young puppy including the chewing, crying, potty training, and constant demands. For this reason we would prefer that the puppies’ new guardians have experience with young puppies and understand their special needs. Remember, just like kids, puppies grow up real fast, and need lots of patience, love and attention along the way.

An adoption fee applies which covers all necessary vet care to include: spay or neuter (mandatory - no exceptions), rabies, micro-chipping and registration, all vaccinations (including all puppy shots, rabies, adult boosters and Bordatella), grooming, Frontline for flea/tick preventative, heartworm check if age appropriate and preventative, collar and 50% of basic training classes.

Due to time restraints, we are not able to accept phone calls outside of our regular showing time at Petco on Chenal across from Target and Home Depot on Saturdays from 1:00 to 4:00 where and when you can meet Carry, but we always try and answer all emails within 24 hours. All of our young and adult dogs require a 2 week home visit before finalizing the adoption process. This is to help ensure it is a good match for all involved without making a final commitment. All of our rescues are in private homes and are not available to be visited outside of showing times. You can also meet Carry and find out for yourself how wonderful and happy she really is at the DogsOnly adoption showings.

Please don’t be tempted to adopt Carry on an impulse. You should take the time to carefully consider the long term commitment, expense, and passion it takes to give her the home she deserves. She’ll reward you with unbounded love and devotion, but you must be committed and serious about your decision to bring her into your life. Remember, this is an adoption, not a sale, and we’re very serious about making sure that both you and Carry are a good match for each other.

All DogsOnly foster homes work with our rescues to ensure they are crate trained and most are also housetrained. Few of the DogsOnly fosters have cats in their homes so we can only make our best guess as to how our rescues would do with cats. We rescue from high kill shelters and once accepted into our program, none of our rescues are euthanized. We provide for all their vet care, socialization and training until an appropriate home can be found.

DogsOnly relies solely on donations and is a 501(c)3 Humane Society. Our mission is to rescue dogs that most other groups are not interested in due to their size, breed, age, health or other various reasons, and to provide education resources for dog owners and those with an interest in the wellbeing of dogs. DogsOnly believes that no dog should be left behind.

Thank you for your interest in rescue and in saving the life of a dog. Every day in the United States, 11,000 dogs die.
