Dexter is a spirited Chihuahua Italian Greyhound mix who needs someone to walk and play with every day. Ol’ Dexter was rescued by a kind and patient family who could bear to leave him to fend for himself as a stray.
Dexter is very active and playful, and he loves to chew and dig holes whenever he can. He is also an alpha dog. He doesn't do well with cats and loves to play with another dog in his foster home, but definitely wants to be the alpha dog.
Dexter needs to have a fenced in backyard to play and run in. He sleeps inside in his bed just fine and sleeps all night long. He needs to have someone that will walk him and play with him every day. He’s especially playful and active. When he’s done playing, he’s very sweet and loves to sit in your lap.
Dexter loves his toys and bones. He loves to play with other dogs, but he’s not big on dining with canine company. He loves to go walking or running, and when he wants to sit in your lap he gets as close as he can to you.
Dexter dislikes sharing food or eating with another dog. He feels very protective of his owner, and hates the vacuum. He’s very playful and puppy-ish, and needs lots of attention and exercise. Dexter loves to fetch or play keep away. He’s a charming companion who knows his basic commands.
Dexter is an independent rescue supported by DogsOnly, so he will not be available to meet every Saturday except for holiday weekends at the DogsOnly adoption showing at Petco on Chenal Parkway across from Target and Home Depot.
You can contact learn more about Dexter by sending an email to his rescuer at firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com. You are encouraged to submit an online adoption application by clicking the orange colored links at the top or bottom of this page. Your adoption application will be forwarded to Dexter ’s fosters who will contact you directly.
All DogsOnly foster homes work with our rescues to ensure they are crate trained and most are also housetrained. None of the DogsOnly fosters have cats in their homes so we can only make our best guess as to how our rescues would do with cats. We rescue from high kill shelters and once accepted into our program, none of our rescues are euthanized. We provide for all their vet care, socialization and training until an appropriate home can be found.
DogsOnly relies solely on donations and is a 501(c)3 Humane Society. Our mission is to rescue dogs that most other groups are not interested in due to their size, breed, age, health or other various reasons, and to provide education resources for dog owners and those with an interest in the wellbeing of dogs. DogsOnly believes that no dog should be left behind.
