Cup Cake is a cuddly little Australian Shepherd / Australian Cattle Dog mix puppy who was discovered with her five brothers and sisters in the bottom of a green plastic storage tub that was sitting in the corner of a cold kennel at a local shelter when she was rescued by a visiting volunteer.
Many of the canine companions that end up at an animal shelter are adopted, but those that fail to get someone’s attention face a cruel and final fate. Fortunately, a volunteer from DogsOnly who was visiting a local animal shelter spotted Cup Cake and her five brothers and sisters all squirming on top of urine soaked wood chips in the bottom of a green tub in the corner of a cold kennel. All of the available DogsOnly foster slots were full, but clearly the tiny little pups were hungry, thirsty, and very scared. The pups were in poor condition, and much too young to be away from their mother without constant attention and care. After some quick problem solving and a few phone calls, the sad little pups were sprung from the pound, and in short order were running and playing in fresh air and safety of a caring foster home. All the little pups need now are families and permanent homes of their own.
Cup Cake will probably grow up to be a first-class canine companion. However, she is not for a family seeking an "easy" puppy, because there is no such thing. Please remember that as beautiful and cuddly as Cup Cakeis at the moment, she will grow into an adult canine companion in no time at all. You should also be prepared for the usual trial of rearing a young puppy including the chewing, crying, potty training, and constant demands. It is for this reason that we would prefer that Cup Cake ’s new guardians have experience with young puppies and understand their special needs. Remember, just like kids, puppies grow up real fast, and need lots of patience, love and attention along the way.
An adoption fee of $125 applies to Cup Cake's adoption, which covers all necessary vet care to include: spay or neuter (mandatory - no exceptions), rabies, micro-chipping and registration, all vaccinations (including all puppy shots, rabies, adult boosters and Bordatella), grooming, Frontline for flea/tick preventative, heartworm check if age appropriate and preventative, collar and 50% of basic training classes.
To learn more about Cup Cake, you can send an email to email@example.com or complete an online adoption application by clicking the orange colored text links at the top or bottom of this page.Due to time restraints, we are not able to accept phone calls outside of our regular showing time at Petco on Chenal across from Target and Home Depot on Saturdays from 1:00 to 4:00, but we always try and answer all emails within 24 hours. All of our young and adult dogs require a 2 week home visit before finalizing the adoption process. This is to help ensure it is a good match for all involved without making a final commitment. All of our rescues are in private homes and not available to be visited outside of showing times. You can also meet Cup Cake and find out for yourself how wonderful she really is at the DogsOnly adoption showings.
All DogsOnly foster homes work with our rescues to ensure they are crate trained and most are also housetrained. None of the DogsOnly fosters have cats in their homes so we can only make our best guess as to how our rescues would do with cats. We rescue from high kill shelters and once accepted into our program, none of our rescues are euthanized. We provide for all their vet care, socialization and training until an appropriate home can be found.
DogsOnly relies solely on donations and is a 501(c)3 Humane Society. Our mission is to rescue dogs that most other groups are not interested in due to their size, breed, age, health or other various reasons, and to provide education resources for dog owners and those with an interest in the wellbeing of dogs. DogsOnly believes that no dog should be left behind.
