Cherry

Cherry is a charming little Shepherd mix who was picked up with her sister Blossom as a stray in Little Rock and taken to the animal shelter. No one knew where she had come from, so her past is a mystery. Whatever little Jodie endured before she was rescued as a stray, she doesn't seem to be any the worse. She is warm, affectionate, charming, and loves company. Cherry is going to be a first class companion.

Many of the canine companions that end up at the shelter are adopted, but those that fail to get someone’s attention face a cruel and final fate. Fortunately, a visiting volunteer from DogsOnly spotted this enchanting and affectionate companion, and in no time Jodie was sprung from the pound and running and playing in fresh air with the other pups in her foster home. All she needs now is a family and permanent home to call her own.

Cherry

Cherry is energetic and very happy young puppy, and will probably grow up to be a first-class canine companion. However she is not for a family seeking an "easy" puppy, because there is no such thing. Please remember that as beautiful and cuddly as Cherry is at the moment, she will grow into a large adult canine companion in no time at all. You should also be prepared for the usual trial of rearing a young puppy including the chewing, crying, potty training, and constant demands. For this reason we would prefer that Cherry’s new guardians have experience with young puppies and understand their special needs. Remember, just like kids, they grow up real fast, and need lots of patience, love and attention along the way. Oh, and by the way, no matter how much the kids beg and promise to “look after the puppy and take it for walks every day” don’t believe it!

To learn more about Cherry you can send an email to contact@dogsonly.org or complete an online adoption application by clicking the orange colored text links at the top or bottom of this page. We always try and answer all emails within 24 hours. All of our young and adult dogs require a 2 week home visit before finalizing the adoption process. This is to help ensure it is a good match for all involved without making a final commitment. All of our rescues are in private homes and not available to be visited outside of showing times. You can also meet Cherry and find out for yourself how wonderful she is at the DogsOnly adoption showings.

All DogsOnly foster homes work with our rescues to ensure they are crate trained and most are also housetrained. None of the DogsOnly fosters have cats in their homes so we can only make our best guess as to how our rescues would do with cats. We rescue from high kill shelters and once accepted into our program, none of our rescues are euthanized. We provide for all their vet care, socialization and training until an appropriate home can be found.

DogsOnly relies solely on donations and is a 501(c)3 Humane Society. Our mission is to rescue dogs that most other groups are not interested in due to their size, breed, age, health or other various reasons, and to provide education resources for dog owners and those with an interest in the wellbeing of dogs. DogsOnly believes that no dog should be left behind.

Thank you for your interest in rescue and in saving the life of a dog. Every day in the United States, 11,000 dogs die.
