Sherman is a friendly 8 week old German Shepherd mix puppy, who was picked up as a stray by Little Rock Animal Services and taken to the pound. Little Rock Animal Services makes a valiant effort to get its puppies adopted, but adoptions are slow right now, and the longer little Sherman stays in the shelter the greater the chance he will catch a canine disease, or eventually simply run out of time and face a grim fate. Fortunately fro Sherman, a visiting DogsOnly volunteer spotter the little guy huddled in his kennel, and took him back to a safe foster home where he can run and play with other rescued puppies until we find a new home for him.
Sherman is energetic and very happy little puppy, and will probably grow up to be a first-class canine companion. However he is not for a family seeking an "easy" puppy, because there is no such thing. Please remember that as beautiful and cuddly as Sherman is at the moment, he will grow into a large adult canine companion in no time at all. You should also be prepared for the usual trial of rearing a young puppy including the chewing, crying, potty training, and constant demands. For this reason we would prefer that Sherman’s new guardians have experience with young puppies and understand their special needs. Remember, just like kids, they grow up real fast, and need lots of patience, love and attention along the way.
OAdoption showings are every Sat & Sun at the WLR on across from Target and Home Depot from 1-4. We do not show on holiday weekends. Also, you may want to call the store to make sure that Sherman is still available for adoption and is attending the showing. Please call during our showing hours at 501-219-9907 as the store employees are not always aware on the availability of our rescues. The email contact to learn more about Sherman is email@example.com, or you can submit an online adoption application by clicking the orange colored links at the top or bottom of this page.
Due to time restraints, we are not able to accept phone calls outside of our showing times at (Sat & Sun 1-4) but we always try and answer all emails within 24 hours. All of our young and adult dogs require a 2 week home visit before finalizing the adoption process. This is to help ensure it is a good match for all involved without making a final commitment. Puppies are not available to go on home visits. All of our rescues are in private homes and not available to be visited outside of showing times. All of our fosters work with our rescues to ensure they are crate trained and most are also housetrained. None of our fosters have cats in their homes so we can only make our best guess as to how our rescues would do with cats. We rescue from high kill shelters and once accepted into our Guest, none of our rescues are euthanized. We provide for all their vet care, socialization and training until an appropriate home can be found.
DogsOnly relies solely on donations and are a 501(c)3 private Humane Society. Our mission is to rescue dogs that most other groups are not interested in due to their size, breed, age, health or other various reasons. This does not mean that there is something wrong with any of our rescues, it just means we help the ones others tend to leave behind.
Thank you for your interest in rescue and in saving the life of a dog. Every day in the United States, 11,000 dogs die.
