Poor ol’ Gracie had a good life, until her owner decided to tie the knot, and it was discovered that the fiancée had developed allergies to Gracie. Unfortunately for Gracie, her owner made the wrong call when forced to choose between Gracie and the fiancée, and now Gracie is all alone and in need of a loyal guardian and family to love. What makes Gracie’s story even more tragic is that she only has the use of 3 legs. Her vet thinks her left hind leg was broken as a pup and was never fixed. Despite all this Gracie manages to get around as well as any four legged dog.
Safely in a caring foster home until she finds her new family, Gracie craves attention. Her foster has told us that she would do great in a home where someone is home all day; perhaps a retired couple with a yard where she can run and fetch. She loves her toys and especially loves to play fetch with a tennis ball.
Gracie is very sweet and wants to be with you constantly. She prefers to be an inside canine companion, but she can be toy aggressive and may need to be an only dog. She likes stuffed toys, balls, squeaky toys, dog biscuits, canned dog food, but most of all, someone to pet her. She does not like other dogs around her toys or her food. Gracie will run and chase a ball for as long as you will throw it. She loves to tug-of-war on a toy, but watch your fingers - she tries to get a better hold on the toy and may accidentally get a finger instead.
Gracie is a large mature female Labrador Retriever mix who is already crate trained, and house trained. She is an independent rescue supported by DogsOnly, and so will not be attending the DogsOnly adoption showings at Petco in west Little Rock, but if you would like to learn more or even meet her you can send an email to her foster at DAWaddle55@aol.com. You can also complete an online adoption application by clicking the links at the top or bottom of this page or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. You application or emails will be sent to Gracie's guardian without delay.
